Hmmmmmm, this is the soft-minded audiences fighting health care? I’m amazed, well actually not, at all the emphasis on “hand ball”–in soccer, they actually use their feet, we need to change the name of the NFL to NHL. Stupid game, sorry, watched my last one in 1961-boring and stupid sport.
sat- unfortunately becoming true, more fighting with Bernie than on the tracks. Also NASCAR roundy-round is like watching freeways at rush hour.(but safer)
Cricket is an acquired taste. I lived for 4 years just down the road from an international fixture stadium and enjoyed many a weekend drinking a cold beer while lying on the grass (never bought a seat). If I missed anything, lazy instant replay on massive screens. Most nail biting game I ever watched (in a pub Covent Garden, London) was the ‘99 world cup semi-finals Australia-South Africa match. Most disappointing was the 1st Test India-South Africa match in Dec ‘96. We arrived at 10am at Kingsmead on day 3. Game over by 2:30pm. Wtf?
That said, I now rarely watch any match.
Not much for spectator sports, but there is one that I find worth watchingwhen I get the chance - sumō (相撲). Everything’s over in a flash ; it’s almost like quantum mechanics….
