i got a solar tube put in the msster bath toilet/shower room today. What idiot thought it was a good idea to put them in a separate room with no window?
National Be Late For Something Day. Well, it’s my day off and I don’t have any appointments. No plans to be anyplace at any time, so I don’t know what the heck I can be late for today.
I got some very bad news last night at work and it’s tearing me apart. I’ve mentioned here before about my group of friends who were getting together once a month at the food court at the mall until this stupid COVID thing came along. We used to be a group of 9 having lunch. But then a few years ago, Janet died, and then Sue moved away. She always brought BJ, so when Sue stopped coming, BJ didn’t come either, Then Darlene had health issues and stopped coming. More recently, Pat moved away so she doesn’t come very often either. But now, we are losing another person. The one I always felt closest to. The one who is like a sister to me.
Cindy is in the hospital. She won’t be going home again. I think I was told it happened yesterday. Cindy’s oxygen level got real low (down to 60. I don’t know what’s normal). They called 911. By then, she wasn’t breathing. They put a tube in her, not realizing she had a “do not resuscitate” order. They knocked her out when they put the tube down her throat. She won’t wake up. If she did, she’s be brain dead anyway because she was without oxygen too long. They’ll be pulling out the tube around noon today. Only 3 people are allowed in the room when they take her off life support. It will be her son, her sister and a very good friend of her son’s (his name is Lance) who is like a second dad to him. Justin’s real dad isn’t in the picture. Justin is a special needs person so this is really hard for him. Losing my good friend is hard for me, too. I’m going to call one of our other “lunch gang” friends in the morning to let her know about Cindy and she can call Pat and Linda. I don’t have their phone numbers. So, now we are down to 3 regulars for lunch (me. Linda & Julia) if we can ever start doing it again. Wasn’t this year already bad enough? Why pile more bad stuff on top of everything else?
From yesterday’s comments to QOA who said, “You didn’t say why you got a bonus in your paycheck” – We are eligible for a quarterly bonus (it’s called “My Share”) if we meet certain criteria, like good sales & stuff. We’ve been doing pretty well lately getting a pretty decent bonus every quarter. Under another store manager a few years ago, we went for 5 or 6 straight quarters without getting a single bonus. Good management does affect our bonus. I thought he was a lousy manager and I was glad when he left and we got a better manager and started getting our bonuses again.
Also from yesterday to Gweedo who asked, “Can we get blow by blow pix action as this job progresses ? :-)”. I do hope to get days off while they are fixing my roof. And I plan on taking some “before” pictures soon. I know the Amish do not want their pictures taken, but I hope to get pictures of the work as it gets done. He told me they could do the whole house in 2 days.
So, about all those peaches I got from my peach tree – I’ve been trying to look up a quick & east peach cobbler recipe without much luck. Does anyone have a good peach cobbler recipe (or any other peach recipes) to share?

I highly doubt that Oliver did that out of spite or malice. He’s too nice for that. The poor kid simply blundered. Everybody makes mistakes, after all. On another note, saw a dragonfly while out walking today. Made a batch of root beer using a kit I got for Christmas.
I took off to town at 8 this morning to go to Target to get an HP Tablet for Yesmin. And of course, they were out. Now trying to decide on one from Amazon. My only news of Yesmin today was that she had soup for lunch made from the pan juices of the pork shoulders I sent to them yesterday. I know her mom makes great soup as she often brings some to me (best is Posole).
