What is the ONE thing going on around you that will have immediate and important effect on YOUR life and that of your friends, and kin? Go ahead, take your time…

Right. Politics. It’s ugly, boring, ugly, mean-spirited and ugly. But it is ALSO the most important thing going on.

How did the constitutional ideal that “all men are created equal” become “political”? I guess the same way that trying to prevent the spread of a deadly virus is “political”. If being a decent human being requires that you belong to one political party, there’s probably something wrong with the other political party.

So lets slap many of the participants in the sports ‘you love’ in the face while you’re at it.

Of course, athlete’s are supposed to ignore issues that directly affect their lives, just so the entertainment of those with little to no athletic ability isn’t ruined.

Keeping in mind that dream images can be a series of non-sequiturs, this is a portion of a recent dream: Ol’ Punkinhead won the election. In the self-congratulatory wankfest that followed the scene shifted from a campaign HQ to a football stadium. Ol’ Punkinhead was surrounded by a flock of supporters, some of whom grabbed the Gator-Ade tub and dumped it over his head. Naturally that ruined his ridiculous coiffure by exposing his Olympic level comb-over and left him looking something like a soaking wet Persian cat.

I read about eight newspapers in a day. When I’m in a town with only one newspaper, I read it eight times. – Will Rogers

Grow up, get real, the world is dying, the politics are as bad as possible, wake up, stop voting for fascist right wingers who don’t care about anything except power and all the money they can steal.

One does get the impression when turning on cable news (any of them) politics is all that happens in this world. Even little disasters like hurricanes.. earthquakes or forest fires become political.

Whenever two or more people are gathered together there is politics, even if it’s just deciding where to eat.

Not funny, Tim. An NFL player said that after the game is over and I take my helmet off, I’m just another black guy. Others have said that because they often drive expensive cars, they get pulled over by police and are challenged to prove they haven’t stolen the vehicle or are not peddling drugs.

It’s fine when Black men entertain us, but heaven forbid they should use their moment in the spotlight to advocate for their rights.

You can’t leave the house without driving on roads that were put there by politics, you can’t work without operating within the laws that were put there by politics, your entire life is controlled by politics. Everything was put there by politics and could be changed by politics. And, if you are sufficiently satisfied that you think you can ignore politics, you better not ignore politics, because there is not much about the world you live in past the color of the sky that isn’t affected by politics. And, come to think of it emission standards could have a pretty huge effect on the color of the sky—and that’s politics

The old way of white people being insulated from the results of their bigotry and racism may be over. It’s sucks that the privileged can’t enjoy completely consequence free lives anymore.
