Very true. Athletes and actors need to remember that they are all just entertainers. When you alienate one side or another you are going to lower your fan base. Also a lot of these people are very very rich, far better to work together and improve the things you want to improve. With athletes they also need to remember that when they are on the field, they are on the job. Don’t know of any other profession that allows their workers to stop work and still get paid.
These “entertainers” have skills that are not readily replaceable, thus they have the economic power to alter their working conditions, at least to the degree demonstrated last week, in light of the greater society’s general approval of their protest. The clerk at the convenience store lacks this luxury. His or her conscience must express itself on his or her own time.
Want to kill a sport, just add politics. Varvel is the best when showing the LEFTS blunders, he gets my vote for BEST politcal cartoonist. GO GARY!!!!!!
Your assumption that the “greater society approves of the protest” is wrong. What’s reported by the media is a distorted and biased version of support that for most of the country is just not there. People just don’t watch sports to be lectured to!
Note when athletes make a statement while on the job, Conservatives tell them to shut up; then when they make a statement on their own time, the same Conservatives tell them to shut up. The only time Conservatives embrace the statements of by an athlete is when it matches the bullspit spin Conservatives are pushing themselves. That’s all we need to know about Right Wing opinion on this subject.

Gary should draw this for the NBA, too. Talk about a lack of skin color diversity!

Mixing comics and politics is a bad idea in Gary’s case.
