That’s the GOP maxim – unless you’re a donor or a multi-billion dollar corporation. We may all be in this together, but basically, we’re individually on our own.
The symbolism is right. The economy doesn’t so much need a “stimulus” to make it go faster as the people in it need a “lifeline” to keep them afloat. Consumers drive our economy (think Christmas etc) and when they Can’t work and have no money to spend even on food, rent etc the economy grinds to a halt. The more of them out of work, hungry, with no place to live and deep in debt the longer it will take for anything like a true recovery to happen when/if we get the virus under control, which has to happen first. Keeping ordinary people afloat has a much greater impact than any tax deferral/trickle-down stimulus (they don’t work). The one-time subsidy, unemployment boost, and even the payrole protection program (when done properly) are steps in the right direction. It’s Not charity in the classic sense, but more of an investment to keep the economy afloat by keeping its members afloat through a disaster that was none of their making.

I’m surprised Congress doesn’t put strings on emergency aid after natural disasters.

Trump and the republicons don’t want to give relief to blue states run by Democrats. Were just too close to the election now.

The Postal Service scandal doesn’t belong only to Donald Trump.
Mitch McConnell played a big role
