Ya know they do sell dog proof trash cans? Bought a great one at a craft fair over 15 years ago, tall wood box with wood lid takes a 33 gallon trash bag. Had to get it, our 100#+ German Shepherd was able to stick his head in the store bought ones.
It’s easier and safer to train the human than the dog. How difficult is it to keep the trash in a closed cupboard (child proofed if necessary) or to purchase one with a dog proof lid? Some of your trash can choke or poison a dog. Or just be messy.
