Put out plent of food for 36 hours and clean and refill the litter box. Call a friend to check on, leave a key, and an important list of numbers. Of course this should have been prearranged, but that is for next time.A friend and trade of cat-sitting if either of us is gome more than 24 hours.
Under the bed isn’t a problem – flip it, it won’t break (unless it’s a waterbed or an adjustible bed). My Amber, bless her cantankerous soul, clawed a hole in the box spring bottom and would crawl into it to hide – she even let Imp in on the secret!
Fortunately I rarely traveled for more than a couple days, so she was fine with a big bowl of food and water. Anyone who checked on her noted that food and drink were imbibed, but no cat was in evidence. Vet visits, on the other hand, took a LOT of planning…
