In one episode of anime “Clannad”, Nagisa thought she’d take the initiative of leading the date with Tomoya because she’s older than him (which she really is by a year).
I’m also reminded of the Shel Silverstein poem “Ladies First” in which the protagonist girl said ladies should go first for everything (including to be eaten by a cannibal).
