all dogs deserve a second chance at a loving, forever home, espoecially those born in a puppy mill and only knowing a cage as it’s home, i got mine from the dog warden after he had been taken there because his owner went into a nursing home. he was 10. he just had his 13th birthday a couple months ago/ everyday we take our walk at the park, him sometimes suggesting which way to go. i remember seeing him tucked back in the corner of his cage, looking lost and alone. when he came into the room i was going to meet him in he was more interested in going outside and doing his thing because they can spend 10-12 hrs a day in their cage before being taken out. he was my best decision ever and i will do it again when he crosses over the Rainbow Bridge.
We have two young foster dogs – terriers – that are as feral as any dogs I have ever known. We don’t actually know anything about their backstory. This is a new foster challenge for us. After 8 months, one of them will (almost) come up to us for pets. The other one still runs to his “safe zones” before we can approach him. But we can approach them in their safe zones now. Such sweeties. No aggression. Just fearful of humans.
