So the little pink ball is being sacrificed to the volcano?

So true, I have spent decades in therapies such as cognitive therapy, acupuncture, jin shin do and neural integration and while I am much happier and more emotionally stable than I was, I still lose hours most days to depression, anxiety and anger. It is incredibly hard, difficult work changing the chemistry and structure of the brain, and my depression stems from childhood post traumatic stress. I cannot begin to imagine how hard it would be if one was born with a disorder.

It is a choice, Opossum. We always have a choice. The key is to control our mind and not let it to control us. It is all in the power of control and res…. Wait, what? Look for more picanic baskets? Yes, master!

Hmmm, I think perhaps the little pink creature is a figment of opossum’s mind and the whole strip is an episode in opossum’s journey to mental health. Kiwi only says “kiwi” and could have fended opossum off with his cleaver.

I can totally relate to this.

My first impression was that he was going to visit the wise ol’ guy on the mountain.

I hope there is some kind of resolution tomorrow. Maybe I’m taking this way too seriously, but throwing a well-meaning but annoying creature into a volcano is too extreme.

I think someone suffering from depression may wish to throw such well-meaning but clueless people into a pit of lava to show them what depression feels like. It feels like h*ll.

Even if he’s faking it, he might drop Pinky in accidentally or Pinky might die of a heart attack. I know cruelty when I see it! Still disappointed.

Opossum might accidentally drop Pinky into the lava or accidentally fall in with Pinky. I call it as I see it, And I repeat that this is the first cruel episode of the usually heart-warming Cat Cafe. So disappointed.

Depression and anxiety are not things you can choose … think about it; who would choose to be unhappy and afraid if it was as simple as deciding not to be? I sometimes wish I had a volcano handy for the folks who think chronic pain is “all in my head”, too.

I think the pink blob is Opossum’s thoughts. I don’t know the online reference, but I found on page74 of the Cat’s Cafe book a strip where Opossum is going to bed. 10:00 PM “Finally going to bed at a reasonable hour.” 10:01 PM “Aah.” 10:02 PM. 10:03 PM A pink blob in Opossum’s head (its brain maybe?) says “Wooo! Nostalgic thoughts! Let’s go!” 3:17 AM “I miss everything. [Sniff]”

my friend tells me to just be happy but when i told her it’s not a choice that I can’t just “be happy” she said she didn’t really understand but wanted to so I’ve been trying to help her on that.

Even though this is only a comic strip I always feel so bad for some of these characters. It’s surprising.
