I guess it was. Having a highly successful Black man, who dug us out of the biggest recession since the Great Depression, while reducing the deficit, dealing with several pandemics, and able to speak intelligently and eloquently produced a backlash where a failed businessman, mediocre reality TV star, who can’t speak in complete sentences, is afraid of stairs, can barely navigate gentle inclines, doesn’t know how to operate an umbrella, can’t drink from a glass, and appears to be in the grip of onset dementia was selected by an electoral College as the result of less than 77K votes across three Midwestern States, despite losing the popular vote by about 3Million.
Infrastructure – nothing. Health care – “Who knew it was so complicated?” Drug prices – nothing. Tax breaks for the rich – check. Alienate and/or abandon allies – check. Fire all the IGs – check. Fire all dissenting voices – check. Hire sycophants – check. Praise dictators – check.
While the French President put on the big parade for Trump he was thinking if Trump were alive during the French Revolution he would have been heads about the rest.
On the one hand, your description of Donnie Murdo is fairly accurate, your description of Obama is not. Obama was absolutely not an improvement on Donnie Murdo. For example, according to TreasuryDirect (the US treasury’s website), the national debt on 2/2/2009 (when Obama took office) was $10,668,643,381,356.91. Let’s say that out loud… Ten Trillion, Six Hundred Sixty Eight Billion, Six Hundred Forty Three Million, Three Hundred Eighty One Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Six dollars and Ninety One cents. That’s the hole Obama started in and most of that can be attributed to two people. Shrub and St. Ronnie. From that same Treasury website (you can go there yourself, just remember, it’s dot gov not dot com) when Obama left office – 2/2/2017 the national debt was $19,885,875,150,544.45. He almost doubled the national debt in eight years. Thems are some fiscal skills worthy of St. Ronnie and Shrub and not an indicator of any kind of deficit reduction. I also don’t know what pandemics you think happened on Obama’s watch. Possibly you are thinking of the Libyan pandemic where we, with our NATO buddies, turned one of the richest countries of North Africa into a failed state replete with warlords and slave markets. Or possibly it was the Russiagate pandemic where people were infected by a virus that made them think that Three Names actually had a clue instead of being a political wannabe whose main claims to fame are (a) being female and (b) having an ego the size of Alaska.
It’s in THE ORANGE FRUITCAKE’S DNA: Never take responsibility for your mistakes while taking responsibility for anything good that happens. because of anyone, anywhere. Self-centered STUPIDITY or mental defect? VOTERS will be the judges.
The party that I once knew and loved was about independence and personal responsibility. Now that the Republican Party has whored itself over to Trump, it is all about blaming someone else when something goes wrong.

He also said he had a great plan to fix the healthcare crisis, much better than the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Nothing came of that either.
