Back in the olden days when fountain pens were common… I’d bet that Jeff’s pen is the old style lever fill. I used to use a cheap ($10 or $20) fountain pen that used the plastic ink capsules back in the day, until it leaked. Felt tips from Flair are my choice nowadays… ;-)
Well, he is old enough to know hard it is to pull a tail quill from an angry goose, sharpen it, cut the short slit, and that little hole at the top. And then blot.

I’ve never used anything but ballpoint pens. I still remember the ads on TV for Parker Pens.

I still use a fountain pen. Got a whole collection of them in fact with different kinds of nibs.
