I"m amused by the whole thing, and have been all along. But the bottom line, for me, is that it’s just an entertainment, and the players are paid performers. So the NFL or the various teams can, and imo should, require their employees to meet reasonable standards of behavior. Whatever “reasonable” is. Were they right to come down so hard on the ones who knelt? I thought not, but I don’t pay their bills… heck, I haven’t even bought one ticket. Are they right, now, to allow such behavior? Sure, if they want to.

There is no law that says the anthem MUST be played before any game. Would it be better to not bother with it in entertainment events?

Yeah, law enforcement will put a knee to a suspect’s neck and say “nothing wrong with what I’m doing” but heaven forbid one takes a knee to remind folks that we should question any values of America that leads to unarmed individuals being brutalized and killed by law enforcement and vigilantes. Just a thought.

The only purpose to kneel is when it’s time to tie shoelaces..
