There IS room do differ about whether we should plan to let a noticeable fraction of our population die in order to keep the economy from tanking even worse. As a retiree, I’m safe from one arm of that dilemma… but I’m also more likely to die from the other one, so I’m pretty much just letting the volunteers do their part to create enough herd immunity so I’ll be safe going out. Or maybe a vaccine will appear before I actually go crazy from isolation (not likely: I’ve got this outlet… :)

I don’t see it as Tim saying that it’s “bad judgement” to keep “non-essential” businesses running. I believe he’s characterizing “Bad Judgement” as a “business” that is “non-essential”, but still “operating at full capacity”.
