These things seem to go in waves. Back in the 1970’s I spent most of a year working strikes called against my employer. Made more money than I thought existed. Didn’t have the time to spend it though.

This is one of the reasons my son left Boeing. He could not “play by the rules.” As an engineer, he tried to make certain jobs easier and more efficient for the people working on the shop floor. He was told that it was against union rules. The workers themselves liked the ideas but they too, were also told that it was against union rules.

He actually went down to the floor and talked with the people who do the work – also against union rules.

Employees usually know which decisions have the best chance of improving conditions and products, and, if left to it, will increase both. The mistrustful 1% can’t accept that, as witness the current state of production and employment. (and CV-19 can’t be blamed for all of it.)
