    The government may pay them, but they own the rights to what they type and you must pay them for any copies. Court reporting is a great scam.

    However it would STILL have to be transcribed by someone onto paper. Recordings can lose info that can only be caught at the time of actual speaking. I’ve heard many recordings of meetings where someone bumped a microphone and blotted out what someone else was saying.

    I think this is quite necessary for proper records of what was said.

    And no, I’m not a court reporter, stenographer, etc., nor do I know any (that I know of).
