One of the best statements on this subject. Now we all have to try to begin doing it.

But, but, but wait! There was this one time where I, a white person, was briefly marginalized in some small way! Even though I have never experienced the total oppression of my entire family or entire community, this totally proves that despite the fact that all the rules of society, written and unwritten, are rigged in my favor, there is no difference between my struggles and the struggles of minorities!

Chant with me now: “Status quo! We won’t go! Status quo! We won’t go!…”

“I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character".

As an Amerind, I can attest to the fact that this is EXACTLY who we are and it’s who we have been ever since the first European set foot on our shores lo these many centuries ago!

And, no I’m not trying to excuse Amerinds from the so-called American “Original Sin” either.

Some tribes had slaves even BEFORE the coming of the “whites”; but there was a difference. We had “slaves” that we got from raids on other tribes, and, because of that we Amerinds always knew that it was a case of “There but for the grace of God, go I!” Every one of us knew that we, too, could become a slave at any moment! So our treatment of our “slaves” was always tempered.

Not so the Europeans. They “knew” they deserved to own other people, they “knew” they were better than the “darker races” as they referred to us – because evidently their “God” had told them so – it was in some “book” they liked to wave around. They don’t SAY that so much, anymore, but they still believe they’re superior in every way!

To the blacks reading this, you have my sympathy – but at least you and your ancestors were worth something to the whites – you had value – my people were merely “impediments” to be disposed of or ignored – we were the “nits made lice” people.

The blacks at least had value, and the black males have always been feared by a certain segment of whites, and, honestly, I’m not sure whether it’s better to be feared or ignored, if it comes to it!

The only thing that could be added to panel 4 is a postcard hawker.

Have we ever taken a good hard look at how we select and train our police? It is a hodgepodge. Every agency has their own process with little, if any, oversight or outside input.
