Vultures don’t find their carrion with their eyes. They have a super sense of smell. So they don’t really need to wear glass.

Not strictly true. Turkey vultures use both their keen sight and their keen sense of smell.

From this page: “The turkey vulture is one of the only birds in North America with a highly developed sense of smell. This vulture relies both on its keen eyesight and powerful nose to search out food.” Also, they don’t limit themselves to carrion by any means.

I don’t know of any bird that doesn’t have a keen sense of sight. For Gaylord to need glasses or contacts, he’d have to live in the Enchanted Forest.

    And that’s why I don’t wear contacts.

I’d climb the highest mountain, Swim the deepest sea, But put a piece of plastic in my eyes with my dirty fingers? You get Evel Knievel to try that.

That’s the trouble with being a Bookworm Buzzard – all that reading he does causes eye strain! (That’s why I stick to reading comics – my glasses are thick enough already…)

Susan Newman: I was thinking the same thing, but with his eyes wouldn’t you need the Death Star?
