    The mitochondrial DNA (inherited through your maternal line and present in all humans) dates back to a single “mother” or sisters who lived in Central Africa about 150,000 years ago. This doesn’t mean she was the first human, but rather her genetic line was the most successful and makes everyone alive today related through her.
