Remember pinball machines and pinball wizards?

I remember staring at anthills.

I remember I was bad at jacks and jump rope…

Good at gin rummy, riding my bike, and making up stories for dolls.

Grew up still bad at sports, good at gin and poker… and scrabble and crossword puzzles…

but the world changed, and now it’s a different skill set that matters.

Our first video game was Asteroid. Then Pac Man. I still see no reason to move beyond that.

Yeah I do remember, games of all kinds played outside with other kids, not held up in my room without sunshine!!!

Loved asteroids on my old Mac. The new version sucks.

Loved going to the arcade. But by the 90’s, a) the games became more complicated and b) I was old enough that my presence would look potentially nefarious in the midst of the kiddies.
