For some it’s the end of civilization here in Vegas. The Gov closed the pot shops at midnight tonite. They are non- essential businesses. It’s gonna be a bleak morning for some people. LOL
I drive past “Gentlemen’s Club” (I call it the nudie bar) when I go to work & back home. The parking lot used to be crammed every night. It looks weird these days seeing the parking lot empty.
Walmart just announced they are giving an extra bonus to its associates. Full time people will see a $300 bonus on our April 2 paycheck. Part timers will get $150. We just got our regular quarterly bonus on our March 19 paycheck. Quarterly bonuses vary with every store, depending on sales & stuff and the bonus even varies each associate in each store, depending on how many hours you work. My bonus on the last check was $258. Walmart is also going to give an early payout for our next quarterly bonus (even before determining if we earned one, but I think it’s a cinch we will earn one since sales are up from people preparing to “shelter in place”) and we will get our June bonus on April 30th and we’ll get more bonus money on May 28. They are also looking to hire 150,000 more people as temporary help (they especially need stockers and cashiers to keep up with the shoppers). Some positions may turn into permanent positions. With the mall across the street from our store closed, we’ve already had quite a few people interested in working in our store, according to what was said at Friday night’s meeting.
National Single Parent Day (does it count if you’re a single parent just to cats & dogs & other pets? I say YES!)
National Corn Dog Day
National Common Courtesy Day (I’ve actually seen quite a bit of this from customers in the store lately, despite these stressful times).
National Countdown Day (Counting down to when our state orders us to “shelter in place”. Illinois and a few other states have already done it and we’re sort of expecting Wisconsin to be next).
National Quilting Day (a good project to work on while you’re stuck at home).
This post from bbear yesterday made me laugh so much, I had to copy it here. I’ve seen this one before, but without the extra note from the cat. That’s the part that really made me laugh.
I used to sing “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” to my JD. Still miss him.And to finish yesterday’s story…Called the vet at 8, and like another commenter said, they are not allowing people into the office (but only to pay)…hmmmm. After several tests and $500 later, I had to take Phluff into LA for emergency surgery. Big hospital, and they, like our local vet were running their tech people ragged, picking up animals and delivering, but they took my credit card. Turns out Ms. Phluff ate “quite a bit of yarn” Wednesday night, and all you animal people out there know what that can do to the insides. Anyway, she made it through the surgery, but she is not out of the woods yet, and they can’t guarantee the intestine sutures will hold. (Add another 8 grand to her bill…she owes me!) Surgeon is supposed to call later this morning with an update. Add to this horror, I went to the local grocery store, and couldn’t even get two cans of beans!
