I love the library always have. We’re fortunate here in Ypsilanti, Michigan to have an outstanding library facility. While not one would call an affluent community, they put their money where it counts!
Enjoyed going to the library. Upset when they dumped the Dewey Decimal System! ;-) Like to visit libraries when I travel. Each is different, some more like a coffee shop gathering place, or even have artworks to rent /buy for your home!
Growing up we had a radio station which broadcast a mystery every night (great to sleep by), soap operas and other programs during some week nights and much more during weekends. Great when snowed/iced in. A television station was also broadcast on radio. This was also great. TV reception was often unclear or blocked. People waited for tv’s because they could only get them by order. Some folks tried to keep up with shows via radio. Some of the radio programs were from books difficult or unlikely to be acquired.
The library was literally a closet. Books, like tv’s, could only be ordered and likely didn’t arrive till weeks later. They were treasures then.
