You can protect yourself against breathing the virus. With a mask. But you can’t do it with a mask that doesn’t seal tight. And those are mighty uncomfortable as well as somewhat expensive. And somewhat high maintenance. But neither of the masks shown here will do that. And so, neither of them is worth much as a way to protect yourself.
Please do, however, wear one of the ones shown on our left if you start to sneeze or cough. It’s not always about protecting you!
The media is driving the panic, not the US government. The disruption to the supply chain in these situations is typically responsible for about 1/3 of the negative impact on the economy. The other 2/3 is consumer behavior. The latter is something you can do something about. So, unless you’re hoping for a worse economic outcome, behave as you normally would as best as you can. My wife and I will go out to dinner Saturday evening as we usually do. I’m going to a trade show in a couple weeks, which thankfully hasn’t cancelled itself. Stuff like that. Keep calm and carry on.
Since the corona virus is 125 microns and the pore size on a N95 mask is 300 microns, they are completely inadequate to provide protection from this illness. They do make the wearer feel safer, so there is that I suppose. N95 masks do work for some viruses since they can be up to 500 microns, just not this one.

It would be nice if the ‘task force’ simply stated the facts and didn’t constantly refer to the ‘great’ job Trump is doing with the crisis.

Trump is very much afraid of the one on the right. It’s his-panic.

Even more so as many are not wearing them over their noses because they’re hard to breath in…

I got a trump mask at a costume store and feel safer now that people stay farther away.

It would be much better if those infected wore the masks. Both to contain the virus AND warn others to stay clear.
