From Wikipedia: “The movement of the rocks occurs when large ice sheets a few millimeters thick and floating in an ephemeral winter pond start to break up during sunny days. Frozen during cold winter nights, these thin floating ice panels are driven by wind and shove rocks at speeds up to 5 meters per minute.”

Who ever would figure those Rolling Stones would still be in the race after all these years?

The “racetrack” is an interesting place. Sadly nut cases in OHVs are tearing up Death Valley and other public lands at an increasing rate. BTW first 3wheel ATV came to America in 1973, those claiming they’re “historic use” are full of it. The TV ads for 4wheel drives constantly show vehicles in streams, tearing up places like the racetrack off trails, and destroying our real heritage of natural settings. Worse than covid 19 will ever be.
