I found a dog once with a collar and name tag and address. I took him home and met a stone face owner, she said, “He gets out all the time.” She took the lead and shut the door. Not a thank you! Had I known that would have been her reaction I would have kept him for myself.
My wife found a puppy, and when she called the number she got from the microchip – there was a collar but no tag – the guy who answered said he didn’t have a dog. My wife pursued the story, explaining how she got his number, to which he replied that yes, he’d had that puppy but that he’d “let him go,” if you can believe that. That puppy is now fully grown and has been an awesome member of our family ever since that phone call. The first owner will never know what he’s missed out on, and we hope he never gets another pet to treat that way. We also hope karma weighs in…

Meanwhile?!? How can someone not miss a dog for days, especially one of that character and need for attention?
