I thought Dean was supposed to be a Star Wars fan. No real Star Wars fan has ever or will ever use that ridiculous title he used. The name of the first movie is ”Star Wars”, nothing more. And if you’re watching all six movies, you always start with the first one (“Star Wars”). And of course a true fan will insist on the original, unmutilated version!

I’m a real SW fan and I say ANH all the time. It’s what it’s called. Only those who were adults or near adults in 77 call ANH by it’s original SW name. You can be a true fan and not be an original purist. I always start with TPM because it’s the first. I take it some here don’t consider the entire EU canon as well?

Anyway, the only original release I prefer is ESB. I hate the new one where they destroyed Boba’s voice. Because that is the only version of dvd there is I mute it whenever he speaks. I think the new ANH is pretty, and they sped it up so both Han and Greedo shoot at the same time so that it’s not an issue anymore, though I prefer Han shoots first. Only the ending of New-ROTJ bothers me, and that’s due to the new Anakin ghost.

@Thriller, I can only feel sorry for you that you couldn’t appreciate the original version of the first Star Wars. It’s classic. It’s also an excellent template for how to tell a story and get the audience to connect with the main characters. Unfortunately, Lucas didn’t follow that template when making I, II & III. He didn’t give us any reason to care about Anakin or anyone else in the newer episodes.

I still have nighmares about the dialogues in Episode 1 (the only one of the newer ones I have seen, I just couldn’t bear the rest), it looks like Heart will have them too.

Maybe Dean is using the full title for Heart’s benefit. I saw “Star Wars” 10 times in 1977 (I was only a moderate fan), and although I’ll sometimes append “Episode IV” to the title I’d rather die than speak the words “A Noo Howp” (I don’t care to write ‘em, either).

And Han doesn’t shoot first because “he’s responding to a twitch from Greedo, demonstrating Han’s immense physical superiority”, he’s firing first because he cheats. It’s hardly unprovoked, because Greedo has already threatened his life (“Over my dead body”; “That’s the idea, Solo”), but if Han starts out as an honorable man then there’s no significance in him becoming heroic later on in the movie.

George Lucas revising Episode IV in order to include Jabba the Hutt. is not unlike Orson Welles revising the scene of Kanes’s childhood in Citizen Kane in order to give us a tight close-up of Young Kane’s sled.

Greedo shooting first. Hayden M”y Suit Kept Me Cryogenically Frozen For 19 Years” Christenson at the end of ROTJ. What mockery is this?

This is why Lucas isn’t getting my money for the Blu-Rays (or DVD’s or VHS)

    C’mon, you didn’t like Han’s epic head-dodge?
