I’ve always wondered about the running gag of Zack wanting to eat school cafeteria food: is his mother’s cooking just as bad as the school cook’s?

I think the “Chef” must have been a cook in the Marines.

The joke use to be “the food is not half bad today,no, it`s all bad.”

I liked Army food pretty much. Didn’t turn down any meals although a dog that approached me one noon sniffed my mess kit and turned away.
