Spencer’s used to sell mystery packages and I got one for $5 for the heck of it. It was a cardboard Christmas tree about 2’ high. The kicker was it had and air pump and styrofoam snow!! The pump would pump the styrofoam up to the angel’s skirt, on top. Then it would snow down to a skirt/dish to be sucked up again. The darned thing worked.
Reminds of back in the 1970s when this type of ad was common… then a law came out saying that you had to honor the promises that you advertised… a guy in town proceeded to run an ad that promised you’d get absolutely nothing if you sent him a buck… he got a surprising amount of bucks… someone tried to sue him over it, but the courts determined that he’d have only violated the law if he had actually sent something…

I’ll bet there’s a How To Draw Doug Kit inside that mystery box.

If there’s nothing inside the box, at least it won’t take up much space.

Great idea buying 10 mystery boxes! You can always mark them up and sell them on eBay to some suckers.

Huh .. turns out there really is a Surprise, Arizona. But it’s a couple of hundred miles away from Benson, Arizona, and my heart longs to be there.
