I, too, snipe at my partner of many decades over such consequential things as “what television show we’re going to watch”.

Whoever said yesterday that this strip was an example of how not to behave was exactly right.

I wish Bub would just divorce her. Betty is such a joyless troll.

We have two televisions and computers that can stream. If we both want to watch television we just go to separate rooms. Nothing hard in that and no one argues.

I like the antisymmetry of panels one and three.

I’m not seeing what the big deal is. My husband and I have shows we watch separately and shows we watch together. If Betty doesn’t want to watch that show, Bub can watch it on his own.

After almost thirty years of married life, here’s my advice: Bub, it’s always sad when the one you love doesn’t share your interests, but get over it, and enjoy the show by yourself. And, Betty . . . there are other things to do besides watch TV. Why don’t you go make another quilt using your expensive sewing machine? And, yeah . . . I can’t believe I just offered marital advice to two cartoon characters. (I need to get a life.)

Good morning and happy New Year! To those who might be a little groggy this time of the day, let’s remember this is a comic strip, a work of fiction designed to entertain and amuse, not real life. Reading some of these comments about Betty the character provides interesting insight to how some feel towards females, even if only imaginary ones. …hmmm, subject for a thesis, perhaps…

I don’t get it. Did she choose to watch his show after all?
