I recently bought a refurbished iPhone 6. That should give you an idea of what I think about waiting in line for the latest phone; of which 85% of it’s functions I would never use.
I carry a small flip=phone for emergencies. If I get a call on it, the caller probably has the wrong number, miss-dialed, or is a bleeping telemarketer.

Never stood in line for an iPhone. Our last ones, we reserved, and made an appointment for. Got them first day.
