Why go through the expense and bother? – The Republikklan Party

And they’re right; aren’t they? Except it must be recorded that these gangsters were not unopposed. Some of us remembered the old time-y idea of the rule of law.

These people are SO damn dishonest (dishonesty is hard-wired into their DNA) that it really doesn’t occur to them that at least some people are honest. That’s why Mulvaney publicly CONFESSED that Trump committed extortion in order to receive a bribe from an ally he was (illegally) BETRAYING, by withholding Congress-approved (and desperately needed) military aid. (It’s very sad to have to point this out, but withholding Congress-approved expenditures is a CRIME.) Mulvaney, in his confession, told us to “get over it”, and then was shocked, shocked, that a few honest people NOTICED that it was a confession of a CRIME. (Trump, of course, had already “confessed” in the “transcript” of his original extortion/bribery/betrayal phone call.) Exactly like when Trump committed obstruction of justice by firing Comey: his dishonesty is so complete, and he therefore considers it so normal, that he was completely baffled that he didn’t get the praise he was expecting for firing Comey. This would all be funny if it weren’t so tragic, both for the present and the future—unless honest people damn well rise up and DO SOMETHING!

I’m sure this is what the founding fathers envisioned, a rigged senate trial from the likes of a Russian operative like Moscow Mitch. MM might as well play the Russian Federation anthem to open the festivities.

Isn’t it usual to vet the jurors before a trial, to remove those who wouldn’t be able to judge the evidence on its merits and those who wouldn’t change their minds, no matter what the evidence.

Giuliani is off in what FDR called Shan-gri-la, where it’s unlikely that he’ll damage Ol’ Punkinhead with any awkward testimony at this so-called “trial in the Senate”. Of course, Ol’ Punkinhead doesn’t need any help in that regard — he’s way beyond damage control. But that doesn’t cut any figure with the GOP toadies. (The FDR reference is what he said when queried about the origin of the bombers in the Doolittle raid on Japan in WW2.)
