I’m all for new technology, WHEN I have and actual need for it, it does what claims it does (and no more) and I have control of it. I neither buy nor reject something new because it is new, and I don’t “upgrade” something just because there is a new version out. I also don’t like to be “the first one on the block” to buy it. I wait until it’s been out for a while so they can find some of the initial problems. Many companies market things before they are ready and let the end users test for errors.
In the long scheme of things, it’s only been since there were big cities that any such thing as “privacy” existed. Before that, your community was small enough that everybody knew everything about everybody. People could have secrets but they were small and difficult. Except itinerants who were (and still are, often) widely feared because you don’t know them, so in your mind, they are capable of anything !

Question: why do we have so many smart appliances and so many stupid people?
