If the idea of giving subsidies to anyone who produces milk is to keep the cost of milk low, how low do you think it will be when those subsidies allow the large corporations to eliminate their competition and charge whatever they want to charge?
The really crazy part about this is that it was the rural states that put Trump in office, and he is telling them to take one for the team. I’m pretty sure Trump didn’t make it clear to them what was in the end zone they were trying to reach.
Interestingly, the financial subsidies pushed through by Trump are all temporary, while the markets the tariffs destroyed are gone forever – an example of this – immediately upon hearing of the then new tariffs, China immediately instituted a plan to turn over more than 3 million acres to soy bean production, while countries like Brazil immediately announced new contracts with China for their soy bean production.
Soy beans, corn, wheat – the list goes on – for the new markets China has found to provide them when America “cut them off” – they barely noticed the ‘blip’ as they switched to new sources – but that market has been lost to American farmers, forever!
America has totally lost China as a market for ANY PRODUCE – those “farms” big enough to sit on their production until a crop failure or other disaster occurs will be okay – the rest are “toast”, thanks to Trump – you might make note that Trump HAS NEVER invested in any form of “agriculture”, and those farmers who support Donnie John might care to wonder “why” as the wolves slink up to your door.
Now to rip the guts out of the WTO because thay’re “unfair”. (Translation: anything that makes Trumpy unhappy is “unfair”, if not a “disgrace”, and a “hoax” to boot). (Does the man actually know what “hoax” means?)
