Analogy? This is THE GOSPEL according to the Weasel in the White House and his idiots in the Republican McMafia. AMERICA: becoming a very sad place. Constitutional Law experts who have spent their entire careers in the study of the Rule of Law have stated that the “stable genius” in the White House has broken numerous laws. The Weasel-in-Chief and his Republican McMafia have declared that no laws were broken after reading a comic book on the subject. (It had wonderful pictures of the Senate Chambers and the White House.) Such scholarship proves the Weasel’s innocence. /s
“Convicted of a crime I didn’t even commit. Hah!” he says “Attempted murder? Now honestly, what is that? Do they give a Nobel Prize for attempted chemistry? Do they?”
They didn’t convict Nixon. He resigned when the Republicans told him that they couldn’t vote to keep him in office and still have any realistic expectation of being reelected themselves. The choice became:
1. Nixon resigns, the senators don’t have to vote one way or the other and consequently remain “clean” and possibly able to hold on to the senate, or
2. Nixon stays in office, the senators have to decide if the voters in their area are more likely to reelect them if they are “clean” or “dirty”— and as more evidence comes to light how that’s going to play come election time. The Republican party decided that they needed to cut their losses and Nixon went along with it. They are in an even more interesting situation now, because they had some control over Nixon. Now, I don’t think Trump cares much if he destroys the Republican party or not, as long as he believes that what he does is most beneficial to him individually.

Thank heavens we finally have a Supreme Court that might also see it this way…

Ever notice how the villains in Bors’ cartoons are always white and male. Hmmm, almost as if he had an agenda

Interesting that Bors has the victim trying to back out too. Not clear on how that fits into the analogy.

Assault with a weapon is still a crime, even if it didn’t end in murder.
