Ted, on 15 October, CBS reported that “Fifty-six percent of Americans think providing access to affordable health care coverage for all Americans is the responsibility of the federal government, and two-thirds favor the creation of a national, government-administered health insurance plan similar to Medicare that would be available to all Americans.”
Nothing has “succeeded.” We’re still a year out from the next election, and have an administration actively making things worse — here in healthcare among many other areas. Let me say it again: nothing at all has been done. Nothing. The country is going in the direction of having less coverage that costs more money and leaves out more people.
So, no: this is entirely wrong. Purism makes you feel good, and then, like Rall here, you can pretend that next time, if you’re only more pure, you can finally win. But you never win.
The problem with compromising with the Republicans is that a pretty good chunk of the Democrats want to start out with a moderate Democrat ( Joe Biden). That is like agreeing to play the entire game inside the other team’s 50 yard line.
When radicalism succeeds big things happen. USSR. Nazi Germany. China. NK. Venezuela. Spain under Franco. I suppose it depends on how you define success.
When it falls short we get Antifa, la Raza, the KKK. Still radical, still violent, still insane.

As Michael Moore put; promise health care for all and the Rump will pay for it.

Gosh, I just can’t figure out why Americans won’t get behind sensible healthcare plans with economic numbers that back them up.
Oh well, back to misrepresenting the Democratic healthcare plans by spreading the BS that they’re all about “free stuff”.

Radical ideas can move the arguement but compromise is usually the final solution.

We are currently seeing exactly what you propose from the other side. My way! No compromise. Frankly, it sucks.

I think I agree, to an extent. Generalizations are rarely accurate, but certainly in this case it appears to be true.

Calling M4A / Single Payer “radicalism” is a considerable stretch.
