Why was that active shooter drill disappointing, Zack? Were you really stoked to come across an active shooter?

Those are now taking the place of fire drills in school (although this is something that we shouldn’t make light of, given the kind of world we live in now).

Sad but very true with all the wingnuts out there

The stupidest idea from powers that be since Duck and Cover.

We will be having an active threat drill this Wednesday. Ours is a huge campus so depending on where the threat is, we either leave campus for a designated safe area, lock the doors and get where we can’t be seen from outside, or, if someone is trying to get in the room, all adults can arm themselves and any students they feel are capable with anything that comes to hand and do whatever it takes to keep students safe. I talked to the teachers I work with and told them to pretend we had already had the argument and I won so I would be staying outside the “safe area” and deal all the damage I could to any intruder.

How much better to be prepared in an emergency than to not have a plan.

Better than nuclear war drills gramps most likely did when he was in middle school.
