I remember all my friends going to see Love Story and coming out in tears with mascara running down their faces. While I did not have a similar reaction I thought it was a breakthrough movie for its time due to its somber subject matter. It was sort of a Romeo and Juliet star crossed story for its time. And the subject of star crossed lovers apparently never get old. It was recently revisited as The Fault in Our Stars and was once again a popular book and movie.
Of course! That carnival ride we never saw her ride! It makes perfect sense to have another dream sequence dedicated to that important nostalgic set piece.
