Sadly the genie of internationalization is out of the bottle and separatists/nationalists around the globe fear to lose their identity … their language and customs. Catalonia and Quebec come to mind for their similarities and the different ways they’re being dealt with. We are but one planet not a clump of asteroids traveling together through time-space. The obvious solution is mutual respect, but we often do not have the most astute leaders and emotions reign over intellect resulting in senseless violent interactions. Will the people of this planet ever work together for the benefit of all or we just on the path of self-extinction? Are doomed by our inability to play nice with others?

Taken to the extreme, this kind of separatism ends up as anarchy. And that ends up with extraordinarily nasty strong-men (somewhat) in charge.
