My English collie Scarlet loved to sneak up on me and put her nose on a spot behind the knee. Her human jumping and shrieking was a great amusement to her. A week after she died of old age, my St. Bernard did the same thing. After I calmed down, I had this image in my head of Scarlet telling Chopper, “I’m going to be gone soon, and I wanted to pass along my knowledge. If you put your nose there….” Chopper only did it once. He was such a sweetie that he didn’t like to upset me.
