I am so torn by this issue. When have we gone far enough and when is the speech or symbol truely threatening. I grew up in New Mexico 70 years ago and all Latinos were Spanish Americans. The word Mexican was the derrogatory alternative. When my older 1/2 brother said I talked like a Mex-can he meant to insult.
Whew what’s that smell? Oh… Another brain fart in the executive echelons. How much is it going to cost them to make that smell go away this time? They’ll try and say it was only a hiccup in their rules… But what it’s doing is exposing just how rotten it can get in high places… You know those places where they make the rules… it’s those ill-conceived unthought out decisions that make alot of stink… expensive stink.
Zero tolerance, mandatory minimum sentences, and similar rules that don’t allow for a consideration of the circumstances have been very damaging. What if one of the students mispronounces or misspells Niger?
“I said, do not call me that name. I’m not your N-word. Do not call me that.”, he said.
Unbelievable. It wasn’t out of malice or said in a manner of calling the kid the n-word. This is some hyper political correctness bureaucracy by school officials that expect us they never lost their temper and mistakenly repeat a bad word a kid was saying.
“A black security guard who was fired from West High School after telling a student who called him the N-word not to use the slur — and repeated the word itself — is appealing his termination, saying the district’s zero-tolerance policy toward such language by staff ignores crucial context.”
Cops always say “tell it to the judge”… who is hired at least partly because they do have judgment, and because we really don’t want cops deciding who to run in. But school policy should, at worst, put the accused out of the situation until actual judgment can be brought to bear on the situation. Madison should: Reinstate the man, with a warning on his record; and change their zero intolerance policy from “fired immediately” to “on probation until examined”.
Last week at a Gas Station I saw a Black Teen call two Muslims Ni—-r 20 times in a disagreement over a Gas Pump. It seems using the N word seems normal and customary for younger folks, sadly.

Those that made that decision need to be fired.

How do morons get in charge of school districts?

Zero tolerance is a cowardly policy that happens when school boards listen to lawyers instead of common sense.

PC will lose to common sense when applied in good conscience.
