National Emergency Nurses Day. They should get a month, not just a day.
I had a very good visit Tuesday with whisplicka and HarryCK. He took a picture of the three of us which I hope he will share here. A couple of my cats showed themselves to them, but most of the cats stayed hidden. Cassie looked at them but did not come up to them. Fluffy absolutely ADORED them. Fluffy is a real sweetheart. She’s the cat I got from my sister, Martha just before she went into the nursing home to be cared for when her cancer got real bad. I’m glad I got Fluffy so I still have a part of Martha. And Fluffy is just so sweet. We put her and Lovebug in our group picture. Lovebug is not doing well right now. The ear drops are not helping this time as they usually do. But she does not seem ready to go over the Rainbow Bridge yet. She is eating and fighting to get better. Anyway, it was a great visit and they got to see the pumpkin I was decorating for a pumpkin decorating contest at work. The winning pumpkin(s) get a prize. I don’t think I’ll win because there is one entry which I think will win. I’m hoping to get second place. This is my pumpkin, now that I’m done decorating it. Shortly after they left, I went to my garden and picked 12 Butternut squash. I have 7 more out there to pick, which I will do in a couple days.
Here is Lovebug in a cat bed. This was a doll bed I had as a kid, and I still have it and I use it as a cat bed now. This was taken when Lovebug was feeling better.
On another note (as tad says) while they were here, we saw some bees and a dragonfly. And when I went to bring Cassie back in the house, I thought I heard her out in my shed, but when I went to call to her, it turned out to be the groundhog in my shed instead.
I drove hours yesterday to my favorite High Sierra pass (Carson, just south of Tahoe) to take in the fall colors. Not only am I about a week too early for peak color, but the sky was filled with smoke from a controlled burn and I ended up inside the motel by 3 unable to hike or enjoy the drive through the smoke. Freddog was pretty bored as was I. We are leaving at first light hoping for a clear sky and a hike before heading back home.
Patches update: The woman just loves him to death but her cat is still being a pill about it. Sometimes the cat will block the doorway and won’t let Patches out. She’s started feeding them at the same time, a few feet apart, as opposed to separate room. She wants to give it a full month before making the final decision.
We got back from our trip yesterday at 11 AM. Got everything unpacked, did all of the laundry, got the truck washed, paperwork sorted. Today I have to send a box to my sister with stuff she bought after she sent a big box to herself on Saturday. Because of my toe and being unable to walk much, the only things I bought myself were a ring and a pair of earrings, both Black HIlls gold. I couldn’t walk around shops with a cane and my purse and carry things or a basket. I spent most of my time just sitting in the truck waiting for them. This was not a fun trip for me.
Chesney and Jack should each be given an award for most obnoxious pest! On another note, saw, a dragonfly, two rabbits, and a sparrow while out walking today.
