Kid, you’re grounded until you’re legally old enough to watch a Tarantino film.

By the time he gets it written, and optioned, he’ll undoubtedly be old enough to drive. But if he’s lucky he’ll also be old enough to realize exactly how important owning a muscle car really is.

May I suggest you get the money first? Maybe I’m old fashioned here, but I don’t believe in getting in debt if it can be avoided.

Pulp Fiction is one of the few movies that my wife and I have turned off before the end. We have watched a lot of stinkers all of the way through, but when it went from silly to ridiculous to ludicrous we said “Enough” and ended the pain and torture.

Kids always forget “Step 1” (the work or hustle).

The option fee is not all that much— and you have to pay a chunk of it to an attorney who handles the paperwork, another chunk in state and federal taxes, including self-employment tax, and then— just before the option expires either an absurdly low offer is made or they just laugh and walk way while something “almost exactly the same” is suddenly being touted in the trade press.

The “top money maker writers” are part of an upper crust, and the guy at the bottom might have written and optioned a couple of dozen screenplays before getting one to actually go into production— after somebody else gutted it and redid it to fit the third tier actors who are starring in it.

Am I the only one wondering what kind of “Musclecar” the kid was thinking of getting? One of the classics from the 60s or early 70s or something new and user friendly?

Jeez, this is a tough school – half the kids are already too smart for Princeton, the other half just trying to be kids and having imaginations are having reality shoved down their throats!

That kid is way beyond putting the cart before the horse. He is doing the kind of thing that smacks not of seriousness. Just idol wishing. He wants success not the labor that might give him that.
