In the same vein, I’ve found that crudded up baking dishes often benefit from a 2-3 day soak before active washing is attempted.

Just use a plunger a couple of times or get one those gadgets that you push down drain.

Use a more expensive drain cleaner with potassium hydroxide. It will clean the pipes and dissolve things lye has trouble with. Sulphuric acid drain cleaners work by eating through the pipe and dumping it downstairs.

Or whatever is in the drain won’t dissolve even with the most aggressive cleaners and the drain screen can’t be removed without damaging the sink, so live with it. True story.

Actually this method can work, sometimes sitting in the water softens the blockage. It often works with a toilet, the paper breaks down.

Or ignores it because it falls under the heading of “It doesn’t bother me because I don’t use that.”
