    They do show commercials. It’s the sponsors’ signs at the edge of the field, and (at least in Mexico) subtitles of ads during the game.

    Maybe someday soccer will have “creative flopping” competitions like the NBA slam dunk contests.

    I remember not long ago a comment here (I can’t remember by who, so I can not give credit) about USA making their own sports that nobody else played and calling it a world series. I wonder if, without all that marketing, people from USA would actually watch their sports at all. Say car racing, without all that paraphernalia, do people really find it interesting to watch through hours and hours some cars running in circles side by side? I can not recall somebody from USA that has actually succeeded in some kind of racing where they actually had to turn the wheel both ways or actually do something else besides just sitting there. Baseball, most of the time they just look each other, and the only ‘sport’ seems to run from base to base every few minutes apart. Golf, not from USA, but is there where they seem to think that is a sport.. etc etc. The only thing that I would call a sport from USA is basketball, but then again, is the only place where they play it
