If they are trying to hide their assets, as has been suggested, they need to go to prison for a very long time!!

Laws allowing corporations to get out of restitutions such as this…corporations to be used to bypass limits on campaign contributions…to flaunt environmental regulations…to close without a moments’ notice and lay off all the workers…capitalism at its finest.

They should have paid attention to Gilbert &Sullivan’s last production, “Utopia, Limited”. It is about a kingdom that adopted modern business practices as their government. The economy collapsed when nobody paid their debts, but filed bankruptcy instead. They then went back to the parliamentary system because it was better being a limited monarchy than a monarchy, ltd.

But, hey, the opioid dealers wear expensive suits, have fancy offices, belong to the country club. That means they’re not really criminals, right?

Corporations were invented so as to protect investors from the consequences of corporate acts. This has led, naturally, to the fact that corporations act as though they have no morals. Because they don’t. Even closely held ones.
