It’s hard, but you have to be firm with your punishments to make your kids know you mean business.

At my house, it is my husband who is the soft touch. The kids have a BAD habit of going behind my back to ask Daddy if they can have or do something they know quite well I won’t allow! I get SO tired of playing the heavy all the time!

^ITA or you are going to have all kinds of hell in that house in the very near future!

Wally’s the stepdad so he does NOT want to be the bad guy.

Wally stand firm. I’ve had that talk with my hubby. Trouble is he tried to act like the grandfather type I have told him this. Luckly those days are over. He is retired, the kids are adults, and there are no jobs here. And I here that adult kids have returned to nest. No jobs can’t pay rent.

I can say this here since lots of states are going through this problem. I work part time with the county and one section for DOC has to layoff. So if someone leave their postion not filling. If not enough to keep one busy they transfer around.

I hate that phrase because this situation could apply to both men and women. He needs to actually grow up and act responsibly, like a parent should (and too many don’t). ’

He’s the one who created the rubber band gun and gave it to Max, so he’s most likely a kid at heart. This is good in many situations, but sometimes he needs to be the parent and not the buddy.

Derkins: I fail to understand how taking the “gun” away is a punishment. Perhaps this is a new definition of punishment that escapes me. Explain.

DIRKINS HAS NO IDEAN WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. IT WAS NOT TKEN AWAY AS PUNISHMEANT, BUT BECAUSE IT WAS INAPROPRIATELY GIVEN IN THE FIRST PLACE.
