Good chilly morning to ya from the NEK. Not as chilly as yesterday however. Today’s high 77, a whole lot nicer later on.

On the if you only knew news, another truck got stuck in Smuggler’s Notch the other day. For you who don’t know, which is most of you, Smuggler’s Notch is a very narrow road through a narrow pass along the northern end of Mount Mansfield. Big rigs can’t get through but they try. Now there is a fine, $2000 I think, plus the cost of getting the rig removed. Maybe they will learn some day, don’t depend on your GPS only.
It got down to 46 this morning, and supposed to reach 60. All the rain they predicted in the afternoon never showed up. Remind me to stop having my sooth sayed by these guys. Not too accurate.
The wood stove is working nicely. It’s about the 5th time this season we’ve burned it. Everything is warm and toasty. We talked to our wood supplier yesterday. He was in a horrific accident a few months back and still isn’t back to work. A 16 year old girl, with her driver’s license only a month old, pulled out in front of him on the highway and destroyed his truck and him. She walked away unscathed.
Fed Ex still hasn’t picked up the box. I called right after 8 last night and they told me that the pickup had been cancelled by the customer. Yeah right! I suspect that the guy I spoke to on Wednesday cancelled it right after he scheduled it for being so “rude” to him on the phone. I’ve had it up to here with them. We are trying to do the right thing and return someone else’s merchandise. If they don’t pick it up today, it’s going into the dumpster. (Michael wanted to trash it last night.)
We are finally going to get to play cards tonight after a two week hiatus. Looking forward to it.
In the meantime, we will be going to the movies early this afternoon. We have tickets to see the “Downton Abbey” movie. Looking forward to that, too.
We are having a cooler day today, it is currently 84 here, cloudy and a small promise of rain. Good thing rain is in our forecast for several more days and I hope we get some.
Not much else happening today. Everyone have a wonderful day.
