I’m here in the dark , Cosy in my bed, when the biggest mosquito I’ve ever seen flies in front of the phone! I’m going to have to turn on the light and hunt that beast down!
Besides mt “Every Day’s a Holiday” calendar, I get emails on daily holidays. But it’s not coming up tonight. So all I have for now is this:
July 22 is
Hammock Day. I don’t have a hammock, but I have a 3-person lawn swing which is long enough for me to stretch out on if I want to take a nap outside.
And I will be able to spend the next 5 days loafing in my lawn swing as much as I want since I’m taking a few more vacation days this week. I need to get the oil changed in my car one of those days and I have to take Lovebug back to the vet on Tuesday for a re-check. She is only doing so-so. When I brought her home from a vet visit 3 weeks ago, I put her back in her “hospital” room (my downstairs bathroom) and I left the cat carrier in there for her to sleep in. After a few days, she was doing better – she was able to walk without turning in circles and she wasn’t crying out (I don’t know whether her cries were discomfort or loneliness), so I opened the bathroom door to let her come & go as she pleased. But she pretty much stayed in the bathroom, mostly inside the cat carrier for a solid 2 weeks. Now she is coming out of the bathroom and going upstairs sometimes, but she still isn’t back to her old self – the pest who likes to pull socks out of my top dresser drawer if I neglect to close the drawer all the way. And they lovey, “kissy” kitty – the lap sitter. But she’s eating and she’s asking me twice a day for canned cat food, which I of course give her. But she’s just not her normal self. I’m still worried about her.
Someone here suggested to me a couple days ago that I need to expand my ice cream choices because all I had in the freezer was chocolate and vanilla. So for ice cream day yesterday, I bought some cherry cheesecake ice cream and some mint chocolate chip ice cream bars. I’m making this whole week Ice Cream Week.
Nice to see Bluebell but the spider web caught my attention. For the first time since moving to the high desert nearly 9 years ago, I have several orb weavers all throughout the garden, on my front porch, and outside the kitty bungalow under the shade cloth. I suspect our good rain this winter has something to do with their increase. Much to Craig’s dismay, I am very protective of them. But I hunt down black widows nightly, and over the last year have probably smashed 50 of them. Neither one of us, but especially Craig, can afford a bite.
@ Tad1: Hallo dear Tad1, have read your comment today and I also hope with you to be back soon again – I miss your little sweet frog with his leaf-umbrella! ♥
I want to see tad1 back again. It doesn’t feel right not seeing his comments at the end of all the others. Especially since he expanded from “great pictures today” to his other comments & the occasional corny joke.

Saw a dragonfly while out walking today. I once had a cat that caught a dragonfly. I was not happy about that, but forgave the cat.
