He actually took positions and stuck with them, but was not afraid to look at actual stuff like facts, science, real accounting, etc. and go where the facts, etc. led.

Perot was an extremely successful crank, who made a certain amount of sense, but mostly was an old man standing on his lawn yelling at the rest of us.
