I don’t know about the Skittles, but a recent “Scientific American” article on low-light vision tells how researchers determined that dung beetles at night navigate the shortest distance away from the cow flop using the Milky Way as a reference.
While I can see why this earned the researchers an “Ig Nobel Prize”, it’s still a real discovery, although I’ll leave it to others to comment on the philosophic gap between being mired in dung while looking at the stars.
Yep, the same Government that spent $40 million on studying the effects of Jamaican Rum on Asian mosquito larva. And please don’t blame the Dems. This study was personally put forward by Mitch McConnell in the Senate.
1 – Just because you don’t see the value of a study (particularly one outside your specialty that you haven’t even investigated in any depth) doesn’t mean it has no value.
2 – Last I checked, government recommendations for temperature control are extremely generalized and are geared towards a happy medium between the health and comfort of an AVERAGE household and the cost of electricity. It doesn’t take into consideration all possible conditions.
Seriously, if your household consists of people who can’t handle heat, turn the AC to what they CAN handle.
